Kathleen Kelso, 86, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at her home. Mrs. Kelso, daughter of James and Carrie Pruitt, was born on March 25, 1926, in Piedmont, Alabama.
She was married to Harley Kelso on March 26, 1945. He preceded her in death in December, 2000. Also preceding her in death were her parents, 5 brothers, and oldest son, Hester Kelso.
She loved gardening, canning, cooking, mowing her yard on her riding lawnmower, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and many other crafts and spending time with her family. She was a life member and former President of VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #3485 of Doniphan, Missouri. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are 5 children: Sharron (Roy) Jones of West Plains, Missouri, Timothy (Candy) Kelso of St. Charles, Missouri, Frances Kelso of Ferguson, Missouri, Betty Kelso (special friend Kenny Helton), of Poplar Bluff, Joyce (Ted) Croy of High Ridge, Missouri; 14 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roy Pruitt of Vesperia, California. Also surviving is Hester's widow, Joyce Kelso of Deltona, Florida.
Family visitation will be from 10 a.m.-11a.m. Monday, March 11 with public visitation from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan, MO. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home. Burial will be at Briar Oak Ridge Cemetery.
