Some of my favorite memories are of the meals you made. My childhood memories ring with the sound of your voice calling us inside from playing on a hot summer evening, “Kids, come on in for dinner!” You’d say.
We’d walk inside and the smell of love would greet us. Food you had prepared for the last hour and a half, a meal you made not only to feed your family but eat with them too, to share with them.
I have never forgotten the smell of love.
After all that time I spent gone, coming home again, it brought me so much joy to still yet be hit with the smell of love cooking on the stove as soon as I walked in the door. You made sure to cook something I hadn’t had since I left, a true testament of how family and loyalty remain the same through the sands of time. You sat down to eat with us in celebration of seeing eachother after so many years. We looked at each other with happiness scrawled across our faces. I remember thinking, “I did it. I made it home,” as I looked into your eyes. You had saved me yet again, without even knowing it.
You taught me how to love. You taught me with love comes responsibility, and that without love, this world is nothing.
I will forever greet my family and friends with love cooking on the stove. Love you, pudding pop.
Chloe

De was the youngest of the family, but she was the strongest. Always there to calm my fears and give comfort when needed. She was always there for whomever needed anything. I will miss my baby sis. Forever in our hearts.
