Obituary of Missy Sisco

Retired high school teacher Karen Melissa "Missy" Sisco,59, died unexpectedly March 24, 2022, at her home in Doniphan

 

Missy was born February 12,1963 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, to Dorothy and Donald "Woody" Woodring. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Denny, and two beloved nephews, BJ and Jeff.

 

For nearly 30 years, Missy was a dedicated and prolific educator. After graduating from Southeast Missouri State University in 1987, Missy began her teaching career in the Neelyville school district where she taught English and history. Returning to her alma mater, Missy began teaching high school English at Doniphan and was the Beta club sponsor. Throughout her extensive tenure in education, Missy was dedicated to her many students, setting high expectations for them and celebrating their successes both within and beyond her classroom. She was loved and deeply respected by both her students and her colleagues.

 

In addition to her love of teaching, Missy enjoyed many interests and activities. Missy was very involved in her local sorority chapter Sigma Xi of the national organization Beta Sigma Phi.  She devoted many hours to their community projects, supported activities directed by the group, and loved spending time with the sisters she held so dear. She was an avid reader and loved word games. She had an incredibly creative side and enjoyed arts and crafts, often making personalized gifts and Christmas ornaments for close friends and family. She loved to travel and see new places with her friends but her gambling trips with her husband and being with her grandchildren were her most-cherished activities.

 

While her stellar career and diverse interests filled her life, nothing gave Missy more pride and joy than her family. She is survived by Ricky, her devoted husband of 40 years.  Also surviving are her two daughters, Briana Sisco and Amy Richardson (Eric) and her three grandchildren Cheston, Maggie Mae, and Huntleigh, all of Doniphan.

 

Adding to the immense joy of Missy's life were the close bonds she shared with her in-laws/extended family which included Roxanne Leroux (Freddie), Kathy Wyatt (Patrick), Ruthie Wiggins, Mike Sisco, Kim Sisco, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Missy is also survived by four siblings: Ronnie Fletcher of Virginia, Mike Fletcher of Tennessee, Donna Krause of Missouri, and Debbie McGahey of North Carolina.

 

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery in Doniphan.

 

 in lieu of flowers there has been a scholarship fund set up in honor of Mrs. Sisco at Bank of Grandin.
