I first met George (and I call him that because he didnt want me calling him Mr LeGrand) after I graduated the Oklahoma State Farrier School and was staying with my sister and brother in law (Doc Fox and his wife Marjorie). I went with George on 2 different occasions out to the Lords Ranch in Arkansas. The boys were watching him shoe horses and was asking him all kinds of questions. He would only answer them with one or two words. Then the girls were walking to lunch and he stopped what he was doing to say hi to all the girls. While he was putting shoes on a female horse if she kicked and played around he would tell her how much of a sweetheart she was and continue putting the shoes on the horse. However when he was putting shoes on a boy horse even if the horse was standing perfectly still George would take his rasps and hit the horse underneath the horse on its belly and tell it to straighten up. Later finding out that he never did have any boys but 4 girls I could understand that he just didnt really know how to treat boy horses. Even after I quit shoeing horses I would see him in the store and he would always had a smile on his face and a very warm greeting for me. I will miss you George. I know that you are in a better place smiling down upon us. Until meet again. Cowboy up my friend.

Please know we are keeping all of you in our prayers. Our Spencer sure loved sharing a breakfast or 2 with George at Patsy's over the years. They talked horses... George left a great legacy. Our sincere sympathy.

Prayers for his family and many friends. Many childhood memories of George and his horses. He was always willing to share his knowledge and love of horses with a young girl who lived and breathed horses! He will be missed!
