Obituary of George Clifton LeGrand
Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George Clifton LeGrand of Doniphan, Missouri, age 85, passed to his home in Glory on Sunday, September 27th, 2020 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. His daughter Pam Carter was there holding his hand as he was ushered into Heaven. George was a Christmas baby, born December 25, 1934 in Ellsinore, Missouri. He was drafted into the Army in 1957 and served in Alsberg, Germany until 1959.
He was a prayer warrior who you wanted in your corner if you ever needed prayer. President Trump and Vice President Pence should be proud to know that he prayed for them and their families every single night. He was a real cowboy and spent his life doing what he loved, raising horses…. Well, and his girls too. He loved his family with a fierce, unconditional love.
On October 16, 1953, he was married to the most beautiful girl in the world, Wilma Jean LeGrand, who was waiting for him Sunday by the Pearly Gates.
He was a member of the West Point United Pentecostal Church in Doniphan, Missouri where he had attended for over 50 years. He was the best fried okra cooker that West Point ever had.
George has had many family members proceed him to glory, his beloved wife, Wilma LeGrand, his mother and father, Cleta and Earl LeGrand, and siblings, Milford, Edna, and Mildred.
Those family members he will be waiting for are his two sisters, Wilma Tongay and Opal Kester; four daughters, Cindy (Steve) Dunlap of Poplar Bluff, MO; Pam (Gary) Carter of Rogers, AR; Dorinda (Butch) Parmley of Rogers, AR and Tammy Davidson of Doniphan, MO; seven grandchildren, Summer McChristian, Kyle Young, Jared Carter, Kimberlee Harrison, Caleb and Candace Parmley and Derek Davidson, as well as 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at West Point United Pentecostal Church with the funeral following at 1:30 in the church sanctuary. Pastors Chuck and Charles Carr will officiate. He will be laid to rest at Towles Cemetery.
The family has requested that everyone in attendance at both the visitation and funeral wear a mask, and please practice social distancing. Masks will be provided to those who do not have one.
