Beloved father, companion, and friend to all animals, Dr. R. Eugene Fox Jr., 63, died Monday, September 30, 2019 at his home in Fairdealing, MO. Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, October 6, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., followed by a memorial service at Edwards Funeral Home, 606 Walnut Street, Doniphan. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (S.P.C.A).

In 1981, Gene graduated from the University of Missouri with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. He was proud to call himself a Mizzou Tiger and was honored to serve the people and animals of Ripley County and the surrounding areas. For several years, he worked alongside Dr. William Chambers and then, in 1995, he established his own practice, Ripley County Veterinary Service. Aside from working with animals, Gene enjoyed music, the outdoors, and visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his companion, Amy Martin, of the home, his ex-wife, Margie Fox of Harviell, and six children: Jennifer Johnson and her husband, Aaron Todd of Tulsa, OK; Rebecca Fox Pasnoori and her husband Venkat of Lake Quivira, KS; Katherine Fox and her companion Paul F. Collins of Chicago, IL; Connor Fox and his wife Danielle of Columbia; Gillian Fox of Columbia; Jeremiah Fox of the home; two brothers, Bruce Fox of St. Peters, James Matthew Fox and companion Terri Powell of Hazelwood, and sister-in-law Paula Fox of Columbia.
