Carroll Gene DePew, 74, of Gatewood, Missouri, died Thursday, May 12, 2011, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mr. DePew, son of Olen and Alpha (Pyle) DePew, was born July 26, 1936, in Campbell, Missouri. He was a farmer. Mr. DePew was a member of the American Legion and a charter member of the Eagles Club #443 and he loved country music and playing the guitar. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Korea. On October 24, 1984, he was married to DeEtta June Dietzman in Pocahontas, Arkansas. She survives. Also surviving are three children; Michael Dietzman (and Debbie) of Seymour, Missouri, John Dietzman (and Theresa) of Plover, Wisconsin, and DeAnna (and Sherman) Crews of St. Peters, Missouri; five sisters, Helen (and Eugene) Youngblood of Blue Eye, Missouri, Ann (and Ron) Blessin of Springfield, Missouri, Betty McKenzie of Forsyth, Missouri, and Linda (and Jim) McIntosh and Glenda Becker, both of Campbell, Missouri; four brothers, Wayne (and Barbara) DePew and Billy (and Shirley) DePew, both of Campbell, Missouri, Coy (and Teresa) DePew of Kennett, Missouri, and Dicky DePew of St. Francis, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Michael Dietzman, Jr., Joshua Dietzman, Ryan Dietzman, Derek Dietzman, Jessica Dietzman, Patrick Dietzman and Bryan Joiner; and two great-grandchildren, Ava Joiner and Dalton Dietzman. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan with a graveside service and burial to follow at noon at Gatewood Cemetery in Gatewood, Missouri.
