Floyd C. Ormsby, Jr. 81, of Florissant, Missouri, died at home on Saturday, June 6, 2015. Mr. Ormsby was born on November 25, 1933, in Big Rock, Illinois. As a child, he lived in Ripley County, Missouri, near the Logan Creek School. He moved to St. Louis and worked as a roofer until his retirement. After retirement, he became a produce farmer and continued in that vocation for several years. Though he lived in St. Louis, he loved any time he could to visit Ripley County and the area of his Ormsby family near Center Hill Church and Logan Creek. He loved to read, play the organ and listen to his record collection on his phonograph. Mr. Ormsby was also a veteran of the U. S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Moore), his parents Floyd C. and Clara (Timmons) Ormsby, brothers Verle and Clifford, son Danny, grandchildren Michael and Cainah and brother-in-law, Larry Davis. Mr. Ormsby is survived by one daughter, Sharon Heibel (Freeman Morris) and 4 sons, Floyd III of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Chris (Donna), Clifford and James, all of Florissant, Missouri;1 brother, Harold (Barb) of Warrenton, Missouri; 1 sister, Glenda Davis of Hazelwood, Missouri; and 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday, June 11, 2015, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan, Missouri. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial with full military honors will be in the Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery near Doniphan.
