Dempsey Eugene Mansfield, 76, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Monday, June 1, 2015, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Mr. Mansfield, son of Willie and Lula (Sikes) Mansfield, was born January 2, 1939, in Ridgely, Tennessee. He was a self-employed farmer. Mr. Mansfield enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, small-game hunting, cooking and especially playing with his children and grand-children. On May 18, 1956, he was married to Elsie Marie Portwood in New Madrid, Missouri. She preceded him in death on November 22 2007. Surviving are three sons: Dempsey (Sarah) Mansfield, Jr., of Kennett, Missouri, David Mansfield of Maryville, California, and Jeff (Janet) Mansfield of Wichita, Kansas; one daughter, Sheila (Donnie) Meador of Portageville, Missouri; four sisters, Sandra Clemet, Marlene McBride, Joyce Barber and Ramona Burroughs; two brothers, Don Mansfield and William Earl Mansfield; grandchildren, Mark and Magen Mansfield, Adam and Kacey Mansfield, John and Crystal Mansfield, Gina, Kyle and Clarence Edgar, Jay and Ashley Meador, Kim and David Novak, Emily, Cody, Marshall and Taren Mansfield and Dustin and Kim Mansfield; and a host of great-grandchildren, friends, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Jimmy Mansfield, two brothers, Everett Mansfield and Lee Mansfield, and one grandson, Cody Mansfield. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Cheney officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery.
