Mr. Richard Lee McNew, 70, of Fairdealing, Missouri, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mr. McNew, son of the late William "Ernest" and Elsie (Muller) McNew, was born September 22, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was retired from the timber industry. Mr. McNew enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, horses and blacksmithing. He was married to Karen Babe Hudson on April 28, 1968, in Rockford, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 4, 2007. Surviving are one daughter, Della Kaye Redus, and her husband, Billy D. Redus, of Maynard, Arkansas; one sister, Charlotte McNew of Indiana; two brothers, William McNew of Belknap, Illinois, and Edward McNew of Gore, Oklahoma; one daughter-in-law, Betty McNew, of Gatewood, Missouri; three step-brothers, John Deckard of Arkansas, Donald Deckard of Ohio and Ray Deckard of Doniphan; two step-sisters, Betty Dix of Naylor, Missouri, and Jeannie Bolenbaugh of Ohio; and four grandchildren, Caleb McNew, Valerie Redus, Angela Redus and DeAnna Redus. Mr. McNew was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Roger McNew, one sister, Nancy Scott, and four step-brothers, Robert Deckard, Ralph Deckard, Bobby Deckard and Leroy Deckard. Visitation will be Saturday, January 10, 2009, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan, Missouri. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Westly Hudson officiating. Burial will be in the Naylor Masonic Cemetery in Naylor, Missouri.
