Jesse Lee Roy, 83, of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Jesse, son of Lewis Paul and Iva (Hogan) Roy, was born January 12, 1932, in Manila, Arkansas. He was self-employed in farming. Mr. Roy was a very dedicated servant of the community having served as Ripley County Commissioner from 1990-2004. He also served as a board member of the Ripley County Water District #2, K Highway Fire Department, Farm Service Agency, Ozark Planning Commission and many others. Additionally Mr. Roy had been a member of the Kiwanis Club and Bellview Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served during the Korean War. On April 18, 1956, he was married to Ruby Kathleen Neal in Jericho, Missouri, and she preceded him in death on April 19, 2010 Surviving are two children, Jesse Lee Roy, Jr. (Deb) and Becky March (Lynn), both of Doniphan; one brother, Joel Dean Roy of Puyallup, Washington; 6 grandchildren, Seneatha, Shila, Travis, Blake, Patric and Garrett and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, James Steven Roy, one daughter, Judith Ann Roy, two sisters, Edith Ayers and Margaret Arnold and one brother James Willard Roy. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, April 22, 2015, from 5- 8 p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Thursday morning, April 23, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Bob Featherston officiating. Burial will be in the Bellview Cemetery in rural Ripley County.
