Obituary of Dorothy Crain

Dorothy L. Crain, 92, of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life April 9, 2015, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was born August 3, 1922, at Naylor, Missouri, to the late Charles and Jennie (Hunt) Friend. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Doniphan and was a very active member until her health failed. She belonged to the church since 1978. She graduated from Doniphan High School in 1942 and also graduated from the Poplar Bluff School of Practical Nursing as an L.P.N. in 1963. She spent 35 years in nursing before retiring. She married Herbert Crain in 1944 at Paragould, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in 1976. She is survived by two sons, David Crain of Doniphan and Kenneth Crain of Amarillo, Texas; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Doris Kelly and Lois Reid; and 2 brothers, Jesse Friend and Hobert Friend of Lompoc, California. She enjoyed reading, watching Christian programs on T.V. and spending time with family. Visitation will take place Sunday evening, April 12, 2015, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be held Monday afternoon, April 13, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Wade Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
