John Henry Hurt John Henry Hurt, 95, of Pomona, Missouri, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at the Brookhaven Health Care in West Plains, Missouri. Mr. Hurt was born June 15, 1911, in Handy, Missouri. He was a former carpenter in construction and was of the southern Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting, shooting, gardening and camping. Mr. Hurt worked at the shipyards doing World War II and was an endowment member of the NRA. On May 1, 1936, he was married to Eunice Hufstedler at Bennett, Missouri. She survives. Also surviving are two sons; John Alan (Bonnie) Hurt of Pomona and Samuel Russell Hurt of Apache Junction, Arizona; two daughters; Virginia Marilyn Bailey of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Judy Hurt (Don) Fite of Olathe, Colorado; three sisters, Della Wells of Melbourne, Arkansas, Amy Sharum of Morton, Illinois, and Helen Chronister of Van Buren, Missouri; two brothers, Ted Hurt of Indiana and Calvin Hurt of Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Mr. Hurt was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Hurt and Emiline Greene Hurt; two brothers, Roy Hurt and Burley Hurt and two sisters, Lula Dixon and Lida High. Visitation will be Friday, May 18, 2007, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Saturday, May 19, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. with Brother Bob Featherston officiating. Burial will follow at the Pine Cemetery in Pine, Missouri.
