Please share a memory of Pearl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Pearl Marie (Bland) Alcorn Howard passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Pearl was born on December 6, 1923, in Ellington, Missouri to the late Richard and Minnie (McDannald) Bland. Pearl grew up in Shannon County, Missouri on a family farm located on the Current River. She was one of 12 siblings. She married Arnold Alcorn in Arkansas in 1944 and they raised one ornery son, Arnold "Dale" Alcorn. Arnold worked in the timber industry so the young family traveled extensively throughout Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico for many years. Pearl enjoyed working in restaurants as a waitress and cook throughout these years. She later married Charles "Charlie" Howard and lived in Walden, Colorado, Long Beach, California, Post Falls, Idaho, and Doniphan, Missouri. She was active in the Church of Christ churches she attended. She loved cooking, embroidery, collecting broaches, and spending time with her friends, children, grandchildren, and their families. She traveled extensively and if you were near her route, she made a point of stopping by to say hello. She had an infectious laugh and kept her hair red for all but the last of her 91 years. In 2004, she moved to Cheyenne to live with her son Dale following the death of her husband, Charlie. Some of her favorite times in later years were her birthdays when she was treated like a princess, and occasionally even wore a tiara. She is survived by 1 son, Dale (Jewel) from Cheyenne, Wyoming; 2 adopted sons Rocky and Clifford Alcorn from Casper, Wyoming; 2 step-sons Luke Howard from Lakeland, Florida and Mark (Lori) Howard from Knoxville, Iowa; 2 step-daughters, Sandy (Richard) Geringswald from Lakeland, Florida and Laura Antillon from Everett, Washington. She is also survived by 1 sister, Dorthena (Frank) Douglas from Winona, Missouri; 12 grandchildren, and 18 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands Arnold and Charlie, 2 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, her parents, 4 sisters, and 6 brothers. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 5-8 PM Services will be held Thursday March 19, 2015 at 1 PM at Edwards Funeral Home with burial at the Wilson Cemetery.
