William Floyd "Bill" Midgett, 82, of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 16 2015, at his residence in rural Ripley County. Bill, son of Herman and Bettie (Jorden) MIdgett, was born September 10, 1932, in Cash, Arkansas. He was retired military, having served with the United States Navy, including a tour of duty during the Korean War. Bill enjoyed gardening, mowing lawns and singing with the Gospel Volunteers of the First Church of God in Doniphan, singing at Current River Nursing Center and Colonial Home Assisted Living Center. He also enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill was a member of the Doniphan First Church of God. On April 27, 1996, he was married to Helen E. Barlow in Thonotosassa, Florida, and she survives. Also surviving are 4 stepsons: Doug (and Bev) Frye of Doniphan and Rich (and Dianne) Frye, Lewis (and Dina) Frye and Dave (and Shelly) Frye all of Dixon, Illinois; 3 sisters, Evelyn Carter of Harrisburg, Arkansas, and Phyllis Hudson and Shirley Conner, both of Jonesboro, Arkansas; 1 brother, Danny Midgett of Tucker, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Ronnie Midgett. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday morning, February 23, 2015, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Larry Earl officiating. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
