Freda Christine Holt, 88, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was a lifetime resident of Oregon and Ripley counties. Mrs. Holt, daughter of Clarence and Nova (Robinson) Fagan, was born May 30, 1922, in Myrtle, Missouri. She received a B.S. degree from Arkansas State University in 1968 and began her teaching career in country schools before consolidation. Mrs. Holt retired from Doniphan R-1 School District in 1988. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Ripley County Retired Teachers Association and was a board member of the Ripley County Transit. Mrs. Holt attended Logan Creek General Baptist Church. She liked to try new recipes and had a passion for growing flowers, winning many blue ribbons with her flower entries. She was married to Charles Edward Holt at Corning, Arkansas, on December 5, 1983. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2001. Surviving are two sisters; Ellen Holt of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and Betty Keel of Doniphan, Missouri; one brother, Lawrence Fagan of Fairdealing, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Justine Cotton. She will always be in the hearts of those who loved her and will be missed by all. Visitation will be Thursday May 5 from 5-8 PM with funeral services Friday May 6 at 10 AM with Bro. Crowley officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Bluff at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
