Leon Allen, Jr., Pocahontas, Arkansas, formerly of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2008, at the Randolph County Medical Center after a courageous battle with lung cancer. His family was at his side.
For over thirty years "Junior" owned and operated Doniphan Small Engines on the Court House Square. He was born August 24, 1930, in Zalma, Missouri, to Finis and Mamie Allen. On December 8, 1951, he married Joan Wartenbe. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Gloria (and Earl) Scobee, Baxter Springs, Kansas, and one son, Rick (and Pam) Allen, Reyno, Arkansas, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Ray Allen, of Urbana, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by one son, Steve Allen, one great-grandchild, his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Services for Mr. Allen will be Sunday afternoon, November 30, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Doniphan. Visitation will be held Saturday evening, November 29, 2008, from 6:00 - 8:00 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.
