Rev. Paul Gene Hampton, 73, of Fairdealing died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau after a long battle with lung disease. Mr. Hampton was born Sept. 16, 1935 in Biggers, Ark. to Cecil and Nettie (Bowers) Hampton. He has been a resident of Fairdealing for forty six years. He was united in marriage to Betty (Thrasher) on Sept. 29, 1956,in Rockford, Ill. Mr. Hampton was a minister for 37 years with several churches in the Cane Creek Stoddard Association. He was of the Southern Baptist faith and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Mr. Hampton was retired from Kerr-McGee Forest Products and had previously worked at Bob's Small Engines. His hobbies Included raising cattle, spending time with family and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors are three brothers: Earl Hampton of Advance, Cecil Hampton Jr., and Ronnie Hampton both of Doniphan; two sisters, Helen Orick and Barb Collier both of Doniphan . Also surviving is one son, Jerry Hampton and his wife Becky of Fairdealing and their two daughters, Malinda Roark and husband Andy and their two children Isaac and Eli of Fairdealing; Angela Christian and husband Jason and their two children Ethan and Nathan of Doniphan. One daughter, Carol Morris and husband Jimmy of Fairdealing and their family one son and three daughters: Chris Zink and his wife Rachel and their three children Austin, Aaron and Allyson: April Franklin and husband Chris and their three children, Kaitlyn, Ashley and Allison: Tiffany Williams and husband Terry and their three children Taylor, Brant and Breann; and Myra Brady-Morris all of Poplar Bluff. Preceding him in death one brother, Bill Hampton and two sisters, Joyce Lancaster and Mary Wilkerson. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, November 18, 2008, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning, November 19, 2008, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Miller and Rev. Marshall Link officiating. Burial will follow at Center Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 704 E. Locust Street, Doniphan, Missouri.
