Oscar L. McNew, 81, of Winston, Missouri, former Doniphan, Missouri, resident, died Monday, December 8, 2014, at the Cameron Nursing Center in Cameron, Missouri..
Mr. McNew was born March 24, 1933, in Ripley County, Missouri, near Doniphan to the late Roy B. and Ida Langley (McGhee) McNew.
On July 17, 1959, he was married to Sophia Griffin in Doniphan and she survives.
Also surviving are two children: Debra L. McNew York and husband Ed, of Farmington, Kentucky, and Oscar B. (O. J.) McNew and wife Alice, of Cameron, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Josh McNew of St. Louis, John McNew of Osborn, Missouri, Lexi McNew of Cameron, Tasha Bennett of Cameron and Sheena Hoskins of Murray, Kentucky; 6 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Sam, Jordon, Hunter, Brianna and Mattie; and one sister, Corena Thompson of Idalia, Missouri.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Louise Leeth and a brother, Earl McNew.
Mr. McNew was a third generation timber worker and a man of great faith in God. He was also a very loving husband, dad, and granddad.
Visitation for Mr. McNew will start at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Ernie Tillman officiating. Burial will be in the Amity Cemetery.
