Carson James "Kit" Featherston, 92, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Five Rivers Medical Center in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Mr. Featherston, son of Jess and Zetta (Ponder) Featherston, was born February 18, 1919, in Doniphan, Missouri. He retired as a mechanic at Community Ford, Inc. in Doniphan. Mr. Featherston was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, earning three bronze stars and a Purple Heart. On March 23, 1940, he was married to Alma Lee Kenner in Kennett, Missouri. She preceded him in death on October 13, 2009. Surviving are two sons: Bob (and Jeanetta) Featherston of Doniphan, Missouri, and Larry (and Priscilla) Featherston of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters, Ruth Hodo of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Marjorie Young of West Memphis, Arkansas; one brother, Earl Featherston of Lake Charles, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Sheila Featherston, Gary Featherston, Sara (and Dan) Craig, Stacy (and Jerald) Koch and Stuart Featherston; and five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Featherston, Haley Featherston, Ashley Craig, Ben Craig and Caleb Craig. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three sisters; Edna Elrod, Jessie Faries, and Mary Bigler; and two brothers, Marvin Featherston and Lindell Featherston. Visitation will be held Friday evening, April 29, 2011, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Saturday morning, April 30, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Larry Bashaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
