Betty Lou Zitnak, 80, of Doniphan died Friday, October 24, 2008, at Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan. Mrs. Zitnak was born August 21, 1928, in Doniphan. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary. Mrs. Zitnak was a housewife who enjoyed children, her pets and volunteering. On June 23, 1951, she married John Zitnak in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death. Other survivors include one sister Margaret Deen of Doniphan, one daughter Sandy Lynn Zitnak of Poplar Bluff, a special niece, Mary Jones of Grovespring, MO and a good friend and caregiver Susan Stephens of Doniphan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Nell (Merriman) Deen; one son, Greg Zitnak; four sisters, Glenna Dalton, Clara Jackovich, Dorothy Koogle and Mary Lee Deen. Visitation will be at 10 A.M. Monday October 27, 2008 followed by the funeral at 11:00 A.M. at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan with Bro. Kent Wilfong officiating. Burial will be at Doniphan City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to United Methodist Church.
