Larry Bruce Boyles, 68, of Gatewood, Missouri, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. Larry was born in Pittman, Arkansas, on July 17, 1946.
He is survived by his wife, Jenny (Mondy) Boyles; 4 children, Greg Boyles of Doniphan, Missouri, Vickie Peoples and Dawn Warden, both of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and Brent (Ami) Boyles of Imboden, Arkansas. He is also survived by 4 sisters, Connie (LeRoy) Carmickle of Supply, Arkansas, Betty Allen of Ferguson, Missouri, Ethelee Lawson of Brighton, Missouri, Hazel (Louie) Whitton of New Richland, Indiana; 1 brother, LeRoy Boyles of Arkansas; 3 sisters-in-law, Alice Mondy of Gatewood, Nancy Boyles of Doniphan, Ineze Gates of Casa Grande, Arizona; and 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William Lee and Elsie Pearl Boyles, 3 brothers, Lee Jr. Boyles, Bill Williamson and Lyndel Boyles, 1 sister, Joyce Johnson and 1 son, Edward Sanchez.
Larry grew up in Doniphan at his parents' home. He started working at a young age with the farmers and worked with his Dad at their sawmill. He went to St. Louis when he was 16 and worked at a Steak & Shake for a while. He then came home and married Sandra Parker. They moved to Rockford, Illinois, where he worked construction and concrete jobs. He finally ended up working for Kelsey Hayes (Gunite) for 18 years. When the plant moved to Indiana, Larry did not want to move so he stayed in Rockford until he went to work at General Motors in Janesville, Wisconsin, in 1986. He then moved to Orfordville, Wisconsin. In 1992 he met Jenny Mondy and in 1997 they reunited and married on June 29, 1998. They lived in Janesville for years and both retired in 2006 and moved home to Gatewood.
He had been a member of United Auto Workers since 1968. His favorite pastime was being with his wife, traveling, spending time being with his kids and grandchildren and also working with his tractors. He was the greatest man ever; best husband any woman would want, good brother, a great father and the BEST Grandpa ever.
Visitation will begin at noon Saturday, November 22, 2014, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dick Riney officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery.
