Cletus William Scott, 85, of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Southeast Health Center of Ripley County. Mr. Scott, son of Leonard and Dezlee (Bounds) Scott, was born September 21, 1929, in Elmstore, Arkansas. He was self-employed as a carpenter and farmer. Mr. Scott enjoyed horseback riding, farming, fishing, camping, coon-hunting and sharing time with his family. He was an avid reader of westerns and had been a member of the Carpenters' Union since 1956. Mr. Scott served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On November 12, 1954, he was married to Vernice Moser in Batesville, Arkansas, and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Lynette (Don) Carson of St. James, Missouri; one sister, Murl Bennett of St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren, Emmily Carson ( Heath) Stegall of St. Louis, Aaron Carson of Columbia, Missouri, and Lyndon Carson of St. James; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Curtis, Kenneth and Franklin Scott. Visitation for Mr. Scott will take place Tuesday evening, November 4, 2014, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Don Carson, Jr., officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
