Helen Ruth Potts, 92, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan. Mrs. Potts was born November 23, 1915, in Crossett, Arkansas. A housewife, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, writing poetry and being with her family. She was a member of the Oak Grove Church in Doniphan. On May 4, 1941, she was married to Marcus Potts at Whitewater, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1991. She is survived by one son, Mark Potts and his wife, Pat, of Strong City, Kansas; two daughters, Ruth Ann Alley and husband, Norman, of Perryville, Arkansas, and Leita Hunt and her husband, Kenny, of Doniphan; daughter-in-law, Donna Potts Younger, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Christy Koeth and her husband, Adam, Carrie Lyon and her husband, Dale, Shawn Potts and his wife, Lori, Seth Potts, Channon Monroe, Kamron Hunt, Kasey Hunt and Kensey Hunt; and six great-grandchildren, Amber Monroe, Kyle Monroe, Mikala Potts, Colton Potts, Austin Koeth and Braydon Koeth. Mrs. Potts was also preceded in death by her parents, Walter Franklin and Osa D. (Hangar) Strong, one son, Lanny Potts, one granddaughter, Kaley Ann Hunt, one brother, Doyle Strong, and one sister, Irma June Hilterbrand. Visitation will begin Saturday afternoon, October 11, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Kent Harding officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Quilting Ladies.
