George Michel, 94, of Fairdealing, Missouri, departed this life Monday, September 29, 2014, at Southeast Health Center of Ripley County in Doniphan.
Mr. Michel, son of the late Peter and Katharina (Bender) Michel, was born December 25, 1919, in Neudorf, Yugoslavia. He had been a sheet metal worker in the construction field. Mr. Michel was a bee-keeper and herbalist.
On October 5, 1941, he was married to Luise Taubel in Neudorf, Yugoslavia, and she preceded him in death on January 29, 2005.
Surviving are one daughter, Margaretha (and Frederick Ray) Boyles of Doniphan; two sons, Wilhelm Heinrich (and Modane) Michel of Doniphan and Peter (and Barbara) Michel of Fairdealing; 8 grandchildren, Wilhelm Peter Michel, Michael George Michel, Sally Anne Rigsby, Scott Ray Michel, Charlotte Lee Millyard, Paula Christina Pundsack, Matthew Peter-Georg Michel and Andrew Philipp Michel; 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, one grandson, Peter Wilhelm Michel and one great-granddaughter, Victoria Nicole Michel.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, October 2, 2014, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Friday afternoon, October 3, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Doniphan with Pastor Timothy Matthew officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Doniphan.
