Shannon Alicia Brooks, 37, of Boomer, North Carolina, died Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at the Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Mrs. Brooks was born July 9, 1971, in Tucson, Arizona. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

On June 15, 1990, she was married to Mark Allen Brooks at Johnson City, Tennessee. He survives.

Also surviving are two children; Mark Allen Brooks, Jr. and Emily Jane Lavern Brooks, both of the home; her mother, Ollie Lavern Gaultney of Boomer; one sister, Carolyn Jane Jones of Boomer; five brothers, Terry Morton Henderson, Jr., Ricky Ray Henderson and Brent Vern Henderson, all of Denver, Colorado, and George Kennard Boatner and Scott Allan Boatner, both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; and one very special niece, Shawna Michelle Swaim who was like a sister to her.

Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her father, Terry Morton Henderson.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 16, 2008, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan, Missouri, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Fairview Church of God Cemetery in Doniphan.
