Willard F. Murray, 87, of Doniphan, Missouri, died August 19, 2008, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mr. Murray was born May 6, 1921, in Ripley County, Missouri. He was retired from the U. S. Forest Service. Willard was a guide on the Current River for many years and always enjoyed hunting and fishing. He wrote "memories of Friends and Times Past" for the local newspaper. Mr. Murray was a veteran of World War II having served with the U. S. Army in the European Theatre and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #3485. He is survived by one sister, Eva Jean Wright, and her husband, Lester, of Doniphan; one nephew, Gary W. Murray, and his wife, Karen, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and three nieces, Barbara Ferraro and her husband, Gary, of Arlington, Texas, Karen Kelly, and her husband, Robert, of Jay, Oklahoma, and Brenda Richardson and her husband, Tedd, of Moscow, Utah. He is also survived by a special friend, Margaret Deen. Mr. Murray was preceded in death by his parents, Elvis and Maude McGee Murray, and one brother, William H. Murray. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2008, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan with the funeral to follow at 1:00 p.m. Brothers Hubert Payne and John Harwell will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the V.F.W. Post #3485 in Doniphan.
