Charles Jacob Braschler, 94, life-long resident of Doniphan, Missouri, died Friday, August 15, 2008, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan. Mr. Braschler was born April 9, 1914, in Doniphan and was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of the Doniphan Church of God and attended First Baptist Church. On July 22, 1937, he was married to Esther Sutherland at Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She preceded him in death on August 28, 2002. He married Lillian Griffin Abernathy on September 22, 2004, and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters; Jackie Hough of San Diego, California, and Charlotte (Bobbi) Goslee of Kennett, Missouri; one son, Raymond Glen Braschler of Forsyth, Missouri; three step-children, Susan Thomas of Naylor, Missouri, Judith Cox of Bountiful, Utah, and Michael Lamb of Liberty, Missouri; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, seventeen great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great grandchildren. Mr. Braschler raised Craig Braschler and Lynn Braschler-deVilliers and was a significant father figure for Craig. Mr. Braschler was also preceded in death by his parents, Jacob William and Birdie Boxx Braschler, one sister, Ethel Baumgartner, and three brothers, Delvie Braschler, Oliver Braschler and Bernard Braschler. Visitation will be Sunday evening, August 17, 2008, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Monday morning, August 18, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Larry Bashaw and Dr. Mike Phelps officiating. Burial will follow in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
