Foy M. (Mickey) York, 77, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Sunday, August 10, 2008, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Mr. York was born November 7, 1930, in Doniphan and was a self-employed television repairman for 46 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and was a part of the Operation Ivy Project. In 1952 this project carried an A bomb to the Marshall Islands and dropped it on Eniwetok Island. His plane also flew to Alaska, England, Labrador, Hawaii and all over the United States. Mr. York was a member of the American Legion and a life-time member of the Doniphan VFW Post #3485. On December 26, 1952, he was married to Pansy High at Pocahontas, Arkansas. She survives. Also surviving are three sons; Monty York and his wife, Becky, and Rickey York and his wife, Monya, all of Doniphan and Edward York and his wife, Debra, of Farmington, Kentucky; one daughter-in-law, Cindy York, of Blytheville, Arkansas; one sister, Betty Harris, of Atlanta, Georgia, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. York was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Christine Foy York, one son, Micheal York and one sister, Wanda Hoover. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, August 12, 2008, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Brother Hubert Payne officiating. Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ripley County Library.
