Obituary of Floyd Duffey

Floyd Henderson Duffey, 87, of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away April 2, 2014, at his home in rural Ripley County surrounded by his family. He was born May 19, 1926, in Jackson, Tennessee, to Othello and Bertha Mae (Glenn) Duffey. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Doniphan. On April 12, 1952, he was married to Nema Williams in Pocahontas, Arkansas, and she survives. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Also surviving are two sons, Larry and Thresa Duffey of Maynard, Arkanasas. and Don and Cindy Duffey of Doniphan, Missouri;, three grand-daughters, Cynthia (William) Dismang of El Paso, Arkansas, and Leslie (Nick) Brasser and Natalie (Logan) Monahan both of Doniphan, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Cole Allen and Kylee Grace Dismang, Blake Allen and Bently Henderson Brasser. Also surviving is one brother, James Irving (Helen) Duffey and one step-brother, Marvin (Mary) Hall both of Doniphan, Missouri. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Owen, Raymond, Woodrow and Neil and sisters Irene, Callie Mae and Jeanetta, and step-mother Florence Hall Duffey. Floyd went into the Army in 1944 at age 18 serving his country in Company E, 26th Infantry Division during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1947. He loved working on his farm and working with his two sons in the hayfield. He loved being with family, especially his grand-daughters and great grand-children. Visitation will be held at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan on Friday April 4th, 2014, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday afternoon, April 5th, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Randy Miller officiating. He will be laid to rest on the family farm. Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
