Susan Arlene Cooper-Matthews, 66, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Monday, March 31, 2014, at Southeast Health Center of Ripley County. Mrs. Matthews was born July 22, 1947, in Wymore, Nebraska. She loved crocheting, reading Amish books, watching Duck Dynasty, watching dirt track racing and spending time with her grandchildren. On February 17, 1973, she was married to James Ellis Matthews in Wymore, Nebraska, and he survives. Also surviving are four children: Chad (Denise) Matthews of Doniphan, Janet (Alan) Rieth of Washington, Kansas, and Shannon (Jake) Robinson and Dusty (and girlfriend Kim Foster) Matthews of Doniphan; her beloved dog, Ernie; 9 grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Cooper, Cody (Tiffany) Walters, Daniel (and girlfriend Brianna Jaques) Matthews, Wyatt Matthews, Hannah Matthews, Colton Foster, Cooper Robinson and Macie Robinson, all of Doniphan and Zach Rieth of Washington, Kansas; 1 great-grandson, Cameren Walters of Doniphan; 2 sisters, Cathy (Steve) Metcalf of Raymond, Nebraska and Mary Latshaw of Beatrice, Nebraska; and 1 brother, John (Janet) Cooper of Beatrice, Nebraska. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Grant Cooper, 1 brother, Robert Dean Cooper and 1 grandson, Tyler Rieth. Visitation for Mrs. Matthews will begin on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 11:00 a.m at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Tom Arnold officiating. Burial will be in the Hunt-White Cemetery in Doniphan.
