Dorothy Virginia Matlock, 85, of Chicago,, IL, departed this life March 4, 2014, at the Jackson Park Hospital in Chicago, IL.
Mrs. Matlock was born March 26, 1929, in Coon Island, MO, to the late Robert and Ruth Matlock (Prichett).
Dorothy confessed her life to Christ and was baptized at Beersheba Baptist Church in 1966. Dorothy graduated from Wheatley School in Poplar Bluff, MO. She then attended LPN school and moved to Chicago, IL. She started out as an employee for Montgomery Ward Department Store while going to school. She changed careers and went to work for the City of Chicago Police Department. While working for the CPD, Dorothy remained in College and took classes until she became an Engineer for the Chicago Metropolitan Reclamation District. She remained employed with them for 27 years until her retirement in 1997.
Surviving are Robert Matlock Sr. (Marsha) of Toledo, Ohio, Deloris Hood of Poplar Bluff, Joann Turner of Detroit, Michigan, Melvin Prichett of Sikeston, MO, and Patricia Maltbia (Ted) and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Larry Matlock Jr., sisters, Catherine Reed (Clifton), Peggy Thomas, (McKenzie); and brothers Knoble Prichett Jr, Danny Prichett.
