Obituary of Herbert Lorentz

Herbert Elibe-Lafayette Lorentz, 84, of Doniphan, Missouri, succumbed to death while surrounded by love on 1/12/2014. He was born March 29, 1929, in Annapolis, MO. Herbert is survived by one sister, Kathleen Neighbors and one brother, Alfred Lorentz, and three daughters: Sharon Lorentz and Zerelda Gaye Lucia, both of Doniphan, and Cynthia Lorentz of Bernie, MO. He is also survived by four sons: Herbert Lorentz Jr of Dearborn, MI, Michael Lorentz of Garden City, MI, David Lorentz of Fulton, MO, and Daniel Lorentz of Poplar Bluff, MO. He leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Haskell Lorentz, one sister, Juanita Cozine, one son, Lynn Eldon Lorentz, and one grandson, Brian Smith. Herb was a connoisseur of fine cuisine, smorgasbords, and truck-stop diners. He was quick with a joke and loved to sing and dance. He enjoyed spending time with his family and flirting with the ladies. He especially loved to entertain his grandchildren. He looked forward to his daily lunchtime with friends at the Senior Nutrition Center in Doniphan. He read the Holy Bible daily, and found counsel in the teachings of Jesus Christ. He loved to listen to Gospel music. Herbert maintained an independent lifestyle till the time he entered the hospital on 12/30/2013. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan, MO on Thursday, January 16. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, also at Edwards Funeral Home, on Friday, January 17. Reverend Don Akers will be officiating. A private burial service for family will follow at the Hyatt's Creek Cemetery in Lesterville, MO.
