Reverend Billy Joe McDonald Reverend Billy Joe McDonald, 73, of Thayer, Missouri, formerly of Gatewood, Missouri, died Thursday, April 26, 2007, at the St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Reverend McDonald was born September 21, 1933, at Gatewood. He had been a minister for over 40 years, pastoring the last 7 years at Liberty Baptist Church in Gatewood. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and farming. Reverend McDonald was a former member of the Missouri National Guard. On June 4, 1960, he was married to Alice Sparkman at Doniphan, Missouri. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Kevin McDonald of Crossville, Alabama; three daughters, Brenda Steele of Alton, Missouri, Amanda Larsen of Myrtle, Missouri, and Tammy Sorrell of Gatewood; two sisters, Sue Fagan of Fairdealing, Missouri, and Ann Melton of Van Buren, Missouri; four brothers, James McDonald of Gatewood, David McDonald of Ohio, Ralph McDonald of Van Buren, and Tommy McDonald of Hornwall, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. His parents, Doris McDonald and Pearl Martin McDonald, preceded Brother McDonald in death. Visitation will be Saturday, April 28, 2007, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Sunday, April 29, 2007, at the funeral home chapel beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Glenn Murray officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery in Gatewood.
