Helen Mae Emmons, 74, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Emmons was born May 10, 1934, to the late Merle Richmond and Helen Hubbard Richmond in Doniphan, Missouri. She graduated from Doniphan High School with the class of 1953. Mrs. Emmons was a very active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, past worthy matron of Shuri Chapter #1 Order of Eastern Star, Okinawa, Japan, and a present member of Doniphan Chapter #288. She was a lifetime member of Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mrs. Emmons was a faithful Christian and she especially loved working with children. She was a devoted wife, mother and a true friend to many people. On July 2, 1958, she was married to Bert Emmons. He survives. Also surviving are one son, Burkey Emmons of Clayton, Delaware; one sister, Mrs. Midge Foster of Doniphan; two brothers, Merle (Turk) Richmond of Doniphan and Charles Richmond of St. Louis, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be Friday evening, June 13, 2008, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Saturday morning, June 14, 2008, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Randy Miller, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Belleview Cemetery.
