Esther Crook, 94, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Monday, December 2, 2013, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan.
Mrs. Crook, daughter of the late Richard Adolph and Mary (Grichow) Rueffer, was born February 18, 1919, in Melrose Park, Illinois. She had been a clerk with the Federal Job Corps. Mrs. Crook enjoyed reading, writing short stories, gardening and working with flowers. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
On December 26, 1946, she was married to Lawrence V. Crook in Corning, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1977.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. Crook will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning, December 12, 2013, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Timothy Matthew officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson Cemetery in Ozark, Illinois, at 3:00 p.m.
