Herbert Joseph Dale, Jr., 84, life-long resident of Ripley County, Missouri, died Friday, November 8, 2013, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan.
Mr. Dale, son of the late Herbert and Myrtle (Tharp) Dale, Sr., was born November 2, 1929, in Briar, Missouri. He had retired from the Ozark Border Electric Cooperative after 40 years of service. Mr. Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling and had spent 11 years in the Missouri National Guard. He was a deacon at the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.
He was married to Wanda Colburn on December 28, 1951, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, and she preceded him in death on March 14, 2005.
Surviving are two sons, Hugh (and Gwen) Dale and Phillip (and Patricia) Dale, both of Doniphan; one sister, Lillie Mae Howard of Doniphan; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday evening, November 11, 2013, from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Tuesday morning, November 12, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Russell Chitwood and Ron Daughty officiating. Burial will be in the Towles Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.
