Pleas Thomas Obituary

Pleas Junior Thomas, 86, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.



Mr. Thomas was born December 7, 1921, in Capshaw, Alabama. He was a lineman for a telephone company. Mr. Thomas enjoyed gardening and sold vegetables from his garden. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Air Corps in India.



On December 31, 1942, he was married to Irene Romines at Nocona, Texas. She survives.



Also surviving are one son, Henry Thomas of Oxly, Missouri, and two daughters, Tommie Weatherford and Barbara Little, both of Doniphan; two sisters, Opal Sutterfield of Bay, Arkansas, and Ann Averheard of Palm Springs, Florida; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.



Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Thomas and Bertha Brakefield, and several brothers and sisters.



Visitation will be Friday, May 23, 2008, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Saturday morning, May 24, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with Brother Fred Wiktorek officiating. Burial will be in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery.
