Obituary of Paul Landis

Paul Moyer Landis, 89, went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2013, at his daughter's home in Barnett, MO. He was born April 2, 1924, at Harleysville, PA, to Samuel A. and Elizabeth (Moyer) Landis. On February 26, 1946, he married Mary M. Kurtz. She died February 4, 2003. Surviving are his children; Carol Joy Hackman and her husband, Samuel, of Doniphan, MO, Paul Mark Landis and his wife, Mary Lou, of South Boston, VA, John Stephen Landis and his wife, Esther, of Wooster, OH, Ruth Hope Bergey and her husband, Timothy, of Romulus, NY, Lois Rachel Bergey and her husband, James, of Barnett, MO, David James Landis of Knoxville, TN and Joel Daniel Landis and his wife, Mary Beth, of Richfield, PA; 35 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Erma Whitmore. He was a member of Cocolamus Mennonite Church. He dedicated his life to God in his youth; in 1950 he was ordained a minister of the Gospel, and in 1970, he was ordained bishop. He left a legacy of zeal and faithfulness to God and the church. A private burial attended by family is planned for Saturday, October 12, at the Grandin Mennonite Church Cemetery, Grandin, MO. A memorial service will be held at Cocolamus Mennonite Church, McAlisterville, PA, on October 15 at 2:00 p.m.
