Obituary of John McKinney

John Henry McKinney, 83 year old resident of Doniphan, MO, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013, in the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan. He was born June 29, 1930, in Poplar Bluff, MO. Mr. McKinney was a tow boat engineer and a mechanic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bingo. He was a member of the Living Word Church and was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the US Army. On October 17, 1950, he was married to Ella Davis, who preceded him in death on March 1, 2007. He also was married to Anna Mae Waters who preceded him in death February 5, 2006. Surviving are two daughters, Pat Eikerman and husband, Steve, of Doniphan; Margaret McKinney of Arkansas; three sons, Dewayne McKinney and wife, Shirley, of Doniphan; George Henry McKinney of Tresent, TN, Eddie McKinney and wife, Nancy, of Oxly, MO; three brothers, Mansol McKinney, Lindel "Red" McKinney and Buck McKinney; three sisters, Thelma Brown, Fay Darnell and Norma Jean Dudley. Seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orison and Virda Jones McKinney ,and sister Lois Comfort. Funeral services for Mr. McKinney will be held Sunday, October 13, 2013, in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hubert Payne officiating. Burial will be in the Amity Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon until 2 P.M. Sunday.
