Louie James "Bill" Milner, 87, of Doniphan, Missouri passed away Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Southeast Health Center of Ripley County in Doniphan, Missouri. Mr. Milner, son of the late Madison "Matt" James Milner and Mary Ann (Clark) Milner, was born March 3, 1926, in Doniphan, Missouri. Louie was a veteran of the US Army serving in the South Pacific-Japan occupation from 1944 through 1946. He received the APT Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. He also served in the Missouri National Guard from 1947-1955. He enjoyed working on the farm, his cattle, and mowing the lawn. On October 2, 1949, he was married to Eva Jean Ponder in Doniphan. After working for 28 years at Page Engineering in Illinois, he retired and returned to Doniphan. Mr. Milner attended First Church of God in Doniphan. Surviving is his wife; one son Louie Ponder Milner and wife Theresa of Doniphan; one brother, TC Milner and wife Virginia of Bloomfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, Ginger Kepley and husband Steve, Ty Milner and wife Stephanie, and Terra Milner; one great-grandson, Keaton Kepley; two step great-grandchildren Matt and Stephani Kepley; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Looney and husband Bob of Doniphan and Dorothy Milner of Poplar Bluff; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, sister Maggie Ponder and brother George Milner. Funeral services for Mr. Milner will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Brothers Larry Bashaw and Larry Earl officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Monday evening. Entombment will be in the Doniphan Mausoleum.
