Betty Baker, 86, of Gatewood, Missouri, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the Current River Nursing Center.
Mrs. Baker was born February 1, 1922, at Reyno, Arkansas. She was a housewife, mother and minister's wife. Mrs. Baker was a member of the New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and the Ponder Booster FCE Club.
On July 18, 1940, she was married to Herbert A. Baker at Reyno, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1982.
Surviving are two children: one son, Douglas Eugene Baker and one daughter, Ava Marie Wood, both of Gatewood, Missouri; one sister, Bernadine Hensley of Biggers, Arkansas; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Alton Baker, her parents, Harry Hensley and Eunice Morrow Hensley, two sisters, Dorothy Marie Hensley and Marion Fransis Blackburn, and one brother, Herbert Oscar Hensley.
Visitation will be Friday evening, May 9, 2008, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Brother Jared Baker and Brother Kevin Bellinger officiating. Burial will be in the Johnston Chapel Cemetery.
