Betty Lou Mathis, 77 year old resident of Doniphan, died Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO.

Ms. Mathis was born August 22, 1930, at Briar, MO to the late John & Lena Margaret (Johnson) Shipp.

Ms. Mathis was a retired beautician, was a member of the Doniphan Church of Christ and enjoyed gardening, flowers, & Cooking.

On November 30, 1946 she married J.D. Farrell Mathis in Pocahontas AR. He preceded her in death on February 8, 1992.

She is survived by two sons Dwaine & wife Melody Mathis of Highland IN, Glenn Farrell & wife Susan Mathis of Fairdealing and two daughters Janie Faye & husband Dwight Reed of Doniphan and Glenna Kristufek of Doniphan. Two sisters Rosie Cruse of Hammond IN and Reba Blankenship of Doniphan. Nine Grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ms. Mathis was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers John D. Young, Van B. Young and Eddie Shipp.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 13, 2008, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral will began 11:00 a.m. Monday April 13, 2003 at the funeral home chapel with Mr. Steve Sanders officiating. Burial will be at the Shirley Cemetery.
