Irene B. Baker, 80 year old resident of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mrs. Baker was born May 9, 1930, in Benton City, Missouri, to the late Alton Everett and Beulah Lee (Deardorff) Boicourt. She was a retired C.N.A. at Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Missouri, and a member of the Doniphan First United Methodist Church. Irene was a wonderful woman loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She dedicated her life and took great pleasure in serving others. She worked for many years as a C.N.A and spent the remainder of her days loving and taking care of her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. On March 17, 1992, she was married to James "Jim" Baker in Flordia. He survives. Other survivors are one son, Everett "Bud" and wife, Denise, Haislip of Chaffee, Missouri; two granddaughters Melissa and husband, Matt Canterbury and Kirsten and husband, Randy Huff; one grandson, Dean and wife, Dawn Sublette; four great-grandchildren Paige Canterbury, Payton Canterbury, Jacob Huff and Emily Huff; three sisters, Elnora Poindexter, Neva Winfrey and Eva Mae Aulbur; and two brothers, Wayne and wife, Iona Boicourt and Adrian and wife, Bernice Boicourt. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dwane Haislip; two brothers, Harold Boicourt and Everett (Dutch) Boicourt; two sisters, Aleta Meyer and Leona Branson; two stepsons, Jerry Baker and Ricky Lee Baker; and one stepdaughter, Fransisga Baker. Visitation will be Saturday, February 26, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Kent Wilfong officiating. Eastern Star services will be Saturday at 12:30 p.m. A private family burial will follow at a later date.
