Obituary of Ada Merrell-Stanley

Ada Mae Merrell Stanley, 94, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Thursday afternoon, March 28, 2013, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan.
Mrs. Stanley, daughter of the late William A. and Ada Mae (Brooks) Worley, was born August 16, 1918, in Doniphan. She had worked as a cashier for City Drugs for 25 years. Mrs. Stanley was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Doniphan and, in her latter years, attended the First Presbyterian Church in Doniphan with her daughter, Myrna. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
On February 29, 1936, she was married to James W. (Bill) Merrell and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1983. In April of 1986 she was married to James Walter Stanley and he died on June 11, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters: Myrna Sanders of Doniphan and Kay (and Rex) Peddy of Corsicana, Texas; one stepson, Ron Stanley of Tunica, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Jack (and Michelle) Peddy and David (and Carey) Peddy; and two great-grandchildren, Mikayla West and Jacob Peddy.
Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by her parents, her spouses, three sisters, Helen Moore, Kathryn Merrrell and Billie Jean Sprague; and one brother, Warren A. Worley.
Visitation will be Saturday morning, March 30, 2013, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Bob Featherston officiating. Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
