Charles Howard Haynes, 88, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Saturday, February 23, 2013. Mr. Haynes, son of Ivan and Gladys (Sullivan) Haynes, was born July 1, 1924, in Doniphan. He had been a tugboat captain. Mr. Haynes enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Ripley County Wagon Train and Trail Ride Association and the St. Benedicts Catholic Church. He served with the U. S. Marines during World War II. On March 1, 1946, he was married to Bernice Schell in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She survives. Also surviving are two children, Karen (and Stephen) Haynes of Franklinville, New Jersey, and Chuck (and Cindy) Haynes of Doniphan; one brother, Terry Haynes of Streator, Illinois; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Howard Patrick Haynes, two brothers and one sister. Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013, and the funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., all in the St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Doniphan. Burial will be in the Ponder Catholic Cemetery with Father Joseph officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Benedicts Catholic Church.
