Prientus Lee Hastings, 83, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan. Mr. Hastings, son of Walter Hastings and Hazel (Hackworth) Hastings, was born August 23, 1929, in Doniphan. He was the owner/operator of Hastings Grocery and had worked at Lone Star School where he retired. He was a member of the Fox Hunters Association and enjoyed going to the fox pen and listening to his dogs run. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Hastings attended River Valley Community Church. On September 16, 1950, he married Elizabeth Corinne Nickell at the old Wilson Church. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Sharon (Jerald) Hudson of Doniphan; two brothers, Ray Joe Hastings and Truman Hastings; four sisters, Eunice Adamson, Jean Dunn, Kathleen Gillette and Shirley Blackshear; four grandsons, Timothy (Jen) Mandry, Doug (Michelle) Mandry, Mark Hudson and Matt (Ashley) Hudson; five great-grandchildren, Anthony(Sherry) Belt, Alexis, Faith, and Skylar Mandry, and Hunter Hudson. Mr. Hastings was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Hastings and Hazel Hastings; brothers Pal, Jerry, and Kenny Hastings; and sisters Elsie Stinekraus, Beulah Neal and Clarice Holder. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Monday, January 14, 2013, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 11:00 AM at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan with Brother Alan Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Shirley Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shirley Cemetery Fund.
