Emery Michael "Dutch" Desich, 85, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Monday, December 24, 2012, at his residence in rural Doniphan. Mr. Desich was born October 28, 1927, to Emery Michael and Elizabeth (Nemith) Desich, Sr., in South Bend, Indiana. He enjoyed yardwork and flowers and had worked for Reith and Ripley building bridges. Mr. Desich also drove and hauled Studebakers coast to coast. He was a member of St. Benedicts Catholic Church and had served in the U.S. Army. On October 23, 1984, he married Randy (Payne) at Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She preceded him in death on April 21, 1995. Survivors include one daughter, Pat Ayers of Doniphan; two step-children, Angie Pigg of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Les Bagwell of Park Hills, Missouri; two sisters, Delores Hawks of Doniphan and Mary Lou Zurowski of Huntsville, Alabama; two brothers, George Desich of Lizton, Indiana, and Richard Desich of Doniphan; two grandsons, Richie Ayers of Piedmont, Missouri, and Jeff Ayers of Annapolis, Missouri; and four great-grandchildren, Austin, Heath, Michaela, and Maddie. Mr. Desich was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty House and Anna Odom. Visitation will be held Friday, December 28, 2012, at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan from 5-8 PM and a Funeral Mass will take place at 10 AM Saturday morning, December 29, 2012, at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Doniphan with Father Coon officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Dam Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Benedicts Cemetery Fund.
