Norma Geraldine Mathis, 95, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Monday, December 24, 2012, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan. Mrs. Mathis was born January 13, 1917, in Bardley, Missouri, to Grover and Winnie (Thetford) Snodgrass. She was a housewife and had worked at Vitronic. Mrs. Mathis enjoyed quilting, cooking, and being with her family. She was a member of the Doniphan Church of Christ. On November 18, 1935, she was married to James Roy Mathis who preceded her in death on January 22, 1997. Surviving are three daughters; Sue (Floyd) Lynxwiler and Marilyn (Wayne) Rush both of Doniphan; and Pamela (David) Bradley of St. Charles, Missouri; three sons, Larry (Carol) Mathis, Gary (Sara) Mathis and Lonnie Mathis all of Doniphan; one son-in-law, Doyne Holland of Woodson Terrace, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Paulette (Mathis) Barnett of Oak Grove, Louisiana; three brothers, Gene, Raymond, and Don Snodgrass all of Oregon; fifteen grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Winnie Snodgrass; her husband, James Roy Mathis; one son, Willard Mathis; one daughter, Letha Holland; one granddaughter, Lonna Mathis; four sisters, Helen Johnson, Vivian Masters, Reva Hubbard, and Geneva Frafjord; and two brothers Nobel and Truman Snodgrass. Funeral services for Mrs. Mathis will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 28, 2012, at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Doniphan with Steve Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Shirley Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 A.M. on Friday prior to the start of the funeral service.
