Obituary of Leo Weninger

Please share a memory of Leo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Leo Weninger, 78, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Friday, February 11, 2011, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan. Mr. Weninger, the son of Frank and Myrtle (Steele) Weninger, was born April 6, 1932. He was disabled. Mr. Weninger lived with his family until he was 29 years of age. At that time his parents became ill and were unable to care for him. Ripley County Judge Willie Dodd then contacted Mrs. Mary Hearn and she cared for Mr. Leo until her health, too, became poor. In 1974 he went to live with Bob and Christine Turner and family. Leo resided with them until his health deteriorated and the family became unable to care for him. He was moved to the Colonial Home Assisted Living in Doniphan and later, as his condition worsened, was transferred to the Current River Nursing Center. He enjoyed his time with the Turner family. Christine fondly recalled him teasingly say that he "raised the Turner boys". He was proud to boast that his daily job was to bring in the mail. Mr. Leo loved the outdoors and could name every tree in the woods. Visitation will begin at noon on Sunday, February 13, 2011, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Carr officiating. Burial will be in the Towles Cemetery.
